During after hours (3:30 p.m. – 6:59 a.m. EST) only calls representing a health and safety issue should be dispatched.

  • All other calls should be directed to call back during business hours or to the web, where they can enter a ticket directly.

Animal Emergencies / Dead Animals

For animal emergencies, such as animals locked in vehicle, animal abuse, and sick or injured animals, refer to the following scripting:

To report these types of incidents please call (813) 744-5660, select Option 2, or go online to HCFLGov.Net/Pets. Select the Report Animal Emergency or Cruelty tab and submit a request.

Note: If the caller is in immediate danger, instruct them to hang up and dial 911.

For Dead Animals that are large and blocking any travel lanes or sidewalk in Hillsborough County, dispatch the on-call technician for the corresponding unit (ESU, SSU, WSU) and send a message with the following information:

  • Animal Size/Type

  • Location of issue

    • Intersection

    • Affected lanes

  • Sheriff Event # or Dispatcher/Operator ID (if applicable)

Flooded Roadways / Medians & Ditches

Dispatch one of the on-call technicians if the issue falls within Hillsborough County and if any of the below apply:

  • Obstruction of Travel lanes: Blocked roadways, guardrail damage, debris.

  • Roadway Flooding: Travel lanes Impassible by vehicles, wastewater lift station inoperable.

Once dispatched, send a message with the following information:

  • Location

    • Intersection

    • Affected lanes

  • Estimated depth of flooding

  • Sheriff Event # or Dispatcher/Operator ID (if applicable)

  • Any other relevant information

Possible Depressions / Sidewalk Damage

Dispatch one of the on-call technicians only if the issue falls within Hillsborough County and if any of the below apply:

  • The hole is large and in a roadway.

  • The issue is affecting traffic.

  • The bottom cant’ be seen.

  • The sidewalk is broken, uplifted, or sunken.

  • Law enforcement is on site.

Once dispatched, send a message with the following information:

  • Location

    • Intersection

    • Affected lanes

  • Estimated depth of depression/hole.

  • Sheriff Event # or Dispatcher/Operator ID (if applicable)

Dispatch one of the on-call technicians only if the issue falls within Hillsborough County and if any of the below regulatory signs are affected:

  • Stop sign

  • Yield sign

  • Do Not Enter sign

  • One Way sign

  • Signals not working, flashing, or not cycling properly

  • Low, twisted or missing signal heads

  • Pedestrian Crossing light/pole knocked down, twisted, damaged, or button not functioning.

  • Signal cabinet hit or damaged

  • Signal pole hit, knocked down or damaged

  • Flashing Beacons not working, knocked down, twisted or damaged.

    • If for school crossing, capture the name of the school.

  • Electronic Speed advisory sign knocked down, twisted or damaged

  • Streetlight not working, knocked down (County owned and at an Intersection)

Once dispatched, send a message with the following information:

  • Signal Type
